We are considering have our drive either concreted or done in asphalt.

I like the look of asphalt myself but just a little unsure about future problems with it.

I understand there are different choices to be made - plain hot mix, chip seal with gravel pressed in for texture, pattern stamped and acrylic polymer colours..
They claim it doesn't crack as much as concrete as it is more flexible.

Ive heard that asphalt doesn't like garden beds either side as the swelling of moist garden bed soils can move the asphalt and cause speed bump like problems.

Does any one know what the cost differential is between pattern concrete and asphalt.?

I'm looking for feed back on using asphalt any one?

Personally I think it is too hot and basic looking , but I have seen a couple of houses done that look very good.

Sorry no help here Sam , I remember visiting Perth some years ago and I noticed some lovely red asphalt drive ways, very impressive.
I've never seen red asphalt around my area or actually any place apart from WA.
